Burning Man

Kiwiburn is of course seeded from Burning Man, an event that has grown from small beginnings of a few people burning the effigy of a man on Bakers Beach, San Francisco in 1986 to the huge thriving city it has become now. The event is no longer in its original location as growth forced it to one of nature’s most startling landscapes. Once a year, tens of thousands of participants gather in Nevada's Black Rock Desert to create Black Rock City, dedicated to community, art, self-expression, and self-reliance. They depart one week later, having left no trace whatsoever. Then return home to embody the principles they learned year round.

Although Kiwiburn is based on the same principals and guidelines of Burning Man, it is an event of its own that works with the unique environment and conditions that surround it.
