|
|
Okay, I am going to spearhead the Kiwiburn Kostume Korner for next year and I need some volunteers to help me bring this to fruition.
The goal: Make everyone (and I mean everyone as too many people had their regular wear on) paddock-fabulous by giving away lots of shiny, funky, furry, (and pink, don't forget pink) clothing to anyone and everyone. Hats, shirts, shorts, pants, slippers, PJ's, coats, whatever you can find, we'll be giving it away so that no one can't get their shiny on.
What I need:
1) I am looking for people who have an interest and time to source kool burner klothing. If you like to sew or opp shop for great deals, I need you! The idea is to take the whole year to prowl around for cheap kool stuff to bring to kiwiburn next year and do it on the CHEAP! I would love to find volunteers around the country to work with me on this.
2). I will need a crew of people to help at the event. Not sure if we will be a "Kostume Korner" per se; maybe we'll be a roving band of Fashion Police giving out citations and clothing. Not too worried as we've got plenty of time to figure out how we will implement.
Oh, and maybe we'll kulminate in a Fashion Show (any wannabe emcees in the house?)
If you're interested in helping, just say YAY and shoot me an email at kaguidi@yahoo.com.

I like the idea of a roving band of fashion police...

I will bring the shiny.
I can sew if someone tells me what they want. Fur a speciality.
I'm going to be a roving helper-outer of theme camps next year.. a camp follower?
I'm all for aesthetic citations. |

More like, "That's not good enough, here wear this pink furry shiny thing and get fabulous!"
Wow, I'm really excited with all the enthusiasm so far. I will wait a few days to see who else shows interest and then I will contact all of you who want to help offline.
Paddock-fabulous! |

i like the police idea.
Flirt (a women's night in Auckland) have women going around in police uniforms to help people have a good time/ask questions/be safe.
Maybe you could be set up at the gate to modify people as they come in? But then some people might already have costumes and wait to put them on once they get camp set up. Waste of resource to give costumes to already-costumed people. |

OK people, now's the time to start seriously looking for stuff for the Fashion Police.
I have approximately three woolies bags of things I've found about the place, mostly free, all shiny, a variety of sizes. But we need more! And bigger! Our fashion police need to be able to kit people out in the perfect outfit, so the more the better.
I just thought I'd post as a reminder, KB is only 5 1/2 months away now, time to stock up on SHINY STUFF! |

I'll start looking around here at Goodwill and other thrift stores. The other week, David and I saw some wonderfully bright and shiny things - plus stuff that will glow nicely under UV. Next time, we'll get it I swear!
Cheers,
Urs (coming to you live from Knoxville, Tennessee) |

Further to my previous post, I have now acquired a fabulously purple Pimp Daddy shirt and hat from Goodwill. This is just the beginning!

Yay Wendy! Yay BeKitty!
My stockpile of goodies is growing but we need as much paraphernalia as possible!
Anyone and everyone -- if you've got some old' funky fun clothing lying around that you don't use anymore, please consider donating to the Kostume Korner!!!

Fashion police?? oh no I fail already!! But almost everything I have is 2nd hand anyways... Pleeese go lightly on me!! perhaps fire spinners could be exempt from excesses of flowy (or extrememly combustible) costumey type things... body paint... that counts as a costume, though I think I'd rather be purple than green for the weekend... fb |

Just a side note regarding costumes: steer clear of body glitter gels if you're going anywhere near fire. They're very flammable.
Saw this at a party once - firecupping + long wig + body glitter = 2nd degree burns and an ambulance. Just saying.
Cheers,
Urs. |

Hello beautiful fashionistas!
I am busily kombing the opp shops to add to my growing stock of klothing for the kostume korner. You all are going to look utterly divine! But, I could use more stuff so am putting a shout out to see if any one of you sparkly-loving burners has some stuff to kontribute. All items welcome: lingerie, outer wear, under wear, hats/scarves, boots/slippers, sparkly, stretchy, shiny, pink or other are all welcome.
Hoping to meet up with anyone that wants to help with the Kostume Korner some time on Friday afternoon. Will post meetup info on the white board in center camp. Or, you can always come by and find me at The Green Fairy!
Only 46 days till Kiwiburn my friends. Start getting fabulous!
