Because of this, every year we have an Annual General Meeting (AGM) to which all members are invited. This year’s is on 8th June at 8pm and is being held at Jodi’s house, 2 / 229 The Terrace, Wellington. If you aren’t in Wellington, but want to participate, then you can dial in – email allyn.york (at) gmail.com for details.

The agenda for the meeting is as follows:

1. Election of officers and review of roles.

2. Review of the previous year including Chairperson’s Report, Treasurer’s Financial Report and Festival Afterburn Report.

3. Approval of plans for the balance of the current and next calendar years.

4. Other

If any burner has other items they’d like to raise, or indeed any questions at all about Kiwiburn, then please let me know

I’m pleased to announce that we have received official notification from NZ IRD that we are a NON PROFIT ORGANISATION!

In practical terms this means we made some rules changes to ensure no member of kiwiburn (which includes all attendees) receives monetary benefit in excess of the fair market value of their activities. It also means that we get a $1000 exemption to taxable income each year, which puts about $300 more in the kiwiburn coffers annually.

I reckon it’s worth more than that in bragging rights though, eh?

With a recent law change, tents up to 50m2 area no longer need a building permit.

If you want to build anything like this, you don’t need to do any more than cover it off in the safety plan for your theme camp (or whatever) and have it approved by the H&S team. Two metre height limits are no more, but we do want to be sure that structures are practically safe with nothing for people to fall from or things that will fall on them.

Jonthan ‘Helix’ Beza decided to step down after a year of committee service so that he could dedicate more time to his KB interests of running the Pink Moa theme camp and working on an art project. Thank you Jonathan for all your great work during the year! We’ll see you on the paddock! In April, we welcomed aboard Rich ‘Rich.d.Rich’ Parratt (famous for bringing us the Dodgy Roger at KB08) and in June we welcomed Rowena ‘Serendipity’ Budd (from Polly’s Put the Kettle On) to the committee. These two bring a lot of new enthusiasm to the committee and we’re excited to have them on the team! Welcome!
