DESCRIPTION:Let us take you on a journey – a journey to a faraway land where creativity and community reign above all else\, a place where a gift is priceless and money worthless\, a place where people want for nothing\, because everyone brings something. \nOnce upon a time in this place there was a village\, its foundation made entirely of dreams. At the heart of the village there was a Bug. Although the villagers tried to resist\, the Bug infected every one of them – their attempts to burn her only spread the Bug further\, planting a seed in the hearts of all who witnessed it. \nBefore long the village grew into a town\, and dreams gave way to reality. Civic institutions sprang up\, quarried from the mountains of effort that surrounded their little community. But still the Bug plagued the town. Each year she would return stronger than the last\, spreading the seeds of creativity anew and keeping a watchful eye over the town. \nEventually they turned to celebration – the citizens came to understand that the Bug’s arrival heralded another healthy harvest: They sowed ideas\, they fertilised with love\, and they reaped the reward of art\, self-expression\, and the sheer joy of immediate experience. \nNow the town was a city\, thronged with artisans dedicated to their task. A place of culture and renown\, her influence felt far an wide. DESCRIPTION:Warm up and grab yourself a whole new wardrobe at the Winter Op Swap Extravaganza! \nIt’s time pull out that coat that’s been sitting in the back of your closet for the past 3 years… and do you really need that many scarves? Be rutheless with your clear outs! Remember the more items you bring\, the more you can take! \nNever been to a clothes swap before? Here’s how they work:\n1. Bring a bag of pre-loved clothes or costumes with you that you no longer wear.\n2. Go crazy and try on all the awesome things other people have brought\, and if you like it chuck it in your pile.\n3. Leave with a bunch of amazing new outfits and friends! \nIMPORTANT INFO:\n$20 entry with a bag of clothes.\n$25 entry with no clothes.\nThere is no limit to how many clothes you can bring or take away with you. The more you bring\, the more you take\, ie if you bring ONE bag\, take ONE away and so on. All unwanted clothing left behind will be donated to charity. \nFor those who are able to drop off their clothing prior to the event\, you can do so at the following times and locations: \nNitrogenx\, 15D Collard Place\, Henderson\, 8.30am-4pm weekdays.\nAuckland Burners’ Space\, 113 Valley Road\, Mt Eden\, times TBC \nThis is a fundraising event for the Auckland Burners’ Space… We’re busy organising the space so that it can be utlisied by the community for more awesome events\, activities and projects! SUMMARY:Beginners Carpentry for all\, a Hands-on Workshop
DESCRIPTION:A one-day hands on Beginners’ Carpentry Workshop in Auckland for Guys and Gals where we will cover care and safety of hand tools and power tools\, measure twice and cut once and a host of other handy tips to help you build some art. \n(We are still waiting on confirmation that the Mt Eden venue will be available) \nWe are asking for $20 to cover the cost for the day\, including tea\, coffee\, loo paper etc\, as well as throwing some money towards the building rent and hopefully to buy some hand tools to share (if we can find them at the op shops etc). \nWe will grab some pallets to provide free wood to learn on.\nIf anybody would like to help out on the day please drop Lumos a line: lumos@kiwiburn.com  \nIf you have some tools of your own please bring them \nIf you have spare nails\, screws\, sandpaper\, glue etc please let me know or bring them as we don’t have any budget to buy them \nSafety Rules: \nNo open toed shoes or barefeet please\nBring safety glasses if you have some\nBring gloves if you have soft hands\, wood splinters can hurt\nEar protection is used with some power tools

DESCRIPTION:The Borderland is a participatory event\, a collaborative community where we co-create events and gatherings as prototypes for our dreams. It is an empty container\, open to your initiative. It is an invitation to play\, to reflect\, and to engage. The event is for co-creators only\, and not open to spectators. \n\nWhat is it that separates dream from reality?Can you define the thin line that split the two? \nWhat does that border consist of? \nEvery day we live our lives without fulfilling our dreams\, we enforce that border\, grow the distance between the two. We make the real more real and the dream more of a dream. \nThe purpose of The Borderland is to shorten that distance. The distance between dream and reality. It is a place where neither exist\, and both exist. At the same time. \nDream and reality\, coming together. In the Borderland between the two. \n\nOnce again we venture forth towards distant lands\, on the border between dreams and reality.
