Recently we reported on the permit issues that Burning Man is having, which have been further complicated by unreasonable requests made by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) which are putting the future of Burning Man into serious jeopardy. Some of the requests would cost millions, though perhaps more importantly, they go directly against the fundamental elements of Burning Man. Read the broken down report here.
– A Call To Action –
The Burner community is being called upon as rarely before, in an effort to get BLM to reduce their demands to something more reasonable so a new 10 year permit for the site at Black Rock Desert can be agreed upon.
There are a number of things you can do; most importantly you can submit a comment, which should ideally be constructive and well written. Burning Man has put together some guidelines on how to write such a comment, though it is important that your voice is heard (they won’t write the comment for you, that would defeat the purpose).
If you value Burning Man as an event, and care about its future, then get writing and make sure you have your say!
