A not-so-new burner is our quite-new Secretary 2ic! So when I asked him about himself, here was Vaughan’s self-introduction:
N.B.. This is a secretary bird, not Vaughan. Both are pretty cool. We aren’t sure what the bird’s name is.
I attended my first Kiwiburn in 2020 after finally giving into encouragement from assorted friends and partners. From the beginning of my Burn journey I’ve camped with the Very Alternative Gathering Theme Camp, with whom I’m the treasurer and part of the annual planning gestalt.
I didn’t volunteer for the wider Burn community until KB24 when I joined Site Office for a couple of shifts. After that I joined the year round Finance Team. As part of Finance, I was present during the KB25 build where I got to introduce myself as having the glamorous role of “purchasing officer”. As things turned out I was seconded for much of the build as deputy under-assistant site office lead.
After watching the event come together from behind the curtain I decided to apply for the role of Secretary 2iC. Currently I’m looking forward to settling into the role over the next few months while we work towards KB26.
