Kiwiburn is looking for a Treasurer — a good human who can help keep the financial side of the burn healthy so the magic can keep happening.
Behind every art piece, mutant vehicle, and questionable late-night decision is a bunch of fairly normal things like budgets, invoices, and bank accounts. The Treasurer helps keep track of all that. They work with the Finance Team to make sure money coming in and going out is accounted for, bills get paid, and Kiwiburn stays financially sustainable year to year.
You’d also help put together the annual budget, keep an eye on cashflow, and support different teams as they plan what they want to build, run, or bring to the event. A big part of the role is just helping people understand what’s possible within the budget and making sure the organisation stays in good financial shape.
The Treasurer is part of ExCom, the group that helps steer Kiwiburn as an organisation, and works alongside a small Finance Team (including a Treasurer 2IC) to share the load.
Time commitment is usually around 2–8 hours a week, a bit more in the lead-up to the event, and less again once everything wraps up.
You don’t have to be a hardcore accountant, but it definitely helps if you’re comfortable with budgets, spreadsheets, and not-for-profit finances. Experience with things like Xero, GST returns, or financial reporting is a bonus.
If you’re someone who likes helping communities thrive, enjoys bringing a bit of order to creative chaos, and wants to support Kiwiburn in a really practical way, we’d love to hear from you. This role needs someone to fill it.
