Burning Man (Black Rock City, Nevada, USA)
The OG Burn, Burning Man (Aka; The Nevada Regional Burn) is back on track for 2026.
Organizers have opened ticket registration for the event, with multiple sale phases planned, including an April main sale. The theme for 2026, has been revealed: “Axis Mundi,” which refers to the axis of the Earth between the two poles, pretty nifty.
It reflects a symbolic centre connecting humanity, nature and cosmos.
Burning Man is facing their own struggles, after several years of heavy weather and attendance fluctuations. If any Kiwi Burners are heading out to Nevada this year, we’d love to hear from you!
Nowhere (Monegros Desert, Spain – Europe’s Biggest Regional)
The European flagship regional Nowhere has confirmed dates for 7–12 July 2026.
Despite an internal organisational change, the Burn is going ahead and tickets are already on sale, with possibilities for late access even after the initial sell-out.
Nowhere remains one of the most established regional Burns, drawing a few thousand participants each year who co-create art, camps and performances in the Spanish desert. I’ve heard nothing but good things about this one, plus, it’s Spain!
AfrikaBurn (Tankwa Karoo, South Africa)
This continues to be one of the largest global regional Burns, known for extensive art builds, theme camps, music and community ritual culminating in the burning of large artworks.
It kicks off in a mere 60 days! Preparations and community debriefs are now underway. Their theme this year is Through the Prism and it’s not what you’d think. They’ve got a great spiel on it here.
Burning Seed (New South Wales, Australia)
Burning Seed, Australia’s oldest regional Burn, has had mixed news. Plans for a 2026 edition are in development, but it seems to be a smaller, more intimate event, with plans to make 2027 ‘a big one.’ Burning Seed has struggled to get off the ground (There wasn’t an event in 2025) They’re trying to get back to their roots and I’m here for it.
Their facebook group is alive with actively discussing interim activities and ongoing preparations ahead of a more stable return, preserving the participatory ethos in the meantime.
Kiwiburn (Hunterville, New Zealand)
Kiwiburn, New Zealand’s long-running regional, has successfully wrapped up Rainbow Burn and is now looking ahead to January 2027 when it will return to Hunterville.
We’ve got some organisational changes happening so the time to participate and become a part of the Burn has never been better!
Other Regionals & Global Season
What’s especially cool is this spreadsheet by Redditor 1001comments. It shows pretty much every Burn you’ve never heard of happening in 2026! Check it out and throw them an upvote while you’re at it.
