You’ve done it. You’ve cleared Gate, have been welcomed by Greeters, and are finally about to immerse yourself in this thing called Kiwiburn: Theme Camps, the 10 Guiding Principles, the Temple and Effigy, craziness, community, art, ahhhh! The Paddock spreads before you, the sun is shining, life is good.
Of course the brief experience at Gate was a reminder that, oh yeah, the world is still experiencing a pandemic. And even though we are living life as normal as can be here in Aotearoa, a field full of frolocking, half naked humans who may, or may not, have washed recently, still poses a risk for increased disease, no matter which one!
So, as part of being civically responsible, you will see stations with hand sanitiser (Kiwiburn has acquired biblical amounts of this stuff) and handwashing areas where practical. Please use these at your discretion, and maybe spare a thought for all those Burners worldwide who cannot meet family members, much less attend an event with strangers.
