COVID Update – Arriving at Kiwiburn

Dec 1, 2020

It’s January. The time has come to enter the Paddock! As you inch towards the gate for Kiwiburn 2021, you rejoice that the country has managed to avoid any other community outbreaks. All of NZ is basking in glorious level 1.

However, you see a lot of cars ahead of you and the queue is moving slowly, maybe slower than usual. Are those Gate Crew wearing masks? What’s happening?

While it is now 2021, the age of COVID is not over. So here is what to expect at Gate:

  • Every person will be checked with a non-invasive laser temperature scanner and be asked a series of health related questions.
  • If your temperature is too high, you will be moved into a holding area where a secondary check will be performed.
  • If your temperature remains too high, you are displaying cold or flu symptoms and/or the evaluation of your responses to the health questionnaire warrant it, you will be turned away and asked to get a COVID test. Gate will provide directions to the closest testing station.

You will not be allowed back on site until you and all those in your vehicle have provided a negative COVID test result.

  • Whatever happens to one person in a vehicle happens to all people in that vehicle
  • Do not leave your vehicles to mingle and maintain social distancing until you have cleared Gate.
  • Have your COVID NZ Tracer app ready to scan our QR Code (which will work offline as well).

Do not come to Kiwiburn if you are unwell or are displaying cold or flu symptoms.

While we understand that this will likely lead to longer queues and a more involved gate procedure, it is important that we make Kiwiburn as safe as possible, so please arrive prepared and with a positive attitude.
