Last week we let you know that around 40% of our essential year-round roles are currently vacant, and how this year we’re tying ticket numbers to the number year-round volunteer positions filled. If you missed that post you can read it here.
Each week for the next few weeks we’re featuring a Kiwiburn team, what they do and what help they need. Take a look and get in touch when you see something that suits you. And at any time you can see what’s on offer and apply here: Volunteer Opportunities – Volunteer- Kiwiburn
This week – Services Department
Services work in the lead up to the event and onsite to make sure everything flows smoothly when we all descend on the Paddock. Pre-event they’re our ticketing overlords, they’re the first people you meet when you rock up at Gate, they’ll hug you and welcome you Home by way of a greeting (consensually of course!), and keep things flowing on the vehicle front. Without Services, the Paddock would be chaotic af – and not in the good way that we know and love.
We need the following year-round roles filled:
- Services Facilitator 2iC – working with the Services Facilitator on big picture thinking, projects, helping to manage the team and make it all happen. [JD coming soon – keep an eye out if this sounds like you!]
- Gate Management Team – assists the Gate Lead with planning and admin and making sure this all happens the way it’s supposed to. Things like rostering, communication with volunteers, gate layout and planning, and onsite Gate management.
- Greeters Co-Lead – Greeters are the grinning face of Kiwiburn, offering hearty consensual hugs to car loads of new arrivals and talking burners through consent and the Guiding Principles. This role oversees all things related to Greeters, setting the tone, and education of the Kiwiburn community.
- Parking Lead and Parking 2iC – Parking coordinates the onsite traffic team that helps to guide and park participants when they first arrive onsite. This includes liaising with Gate and Greeters to ensure traffic up and down the access road runs safely and smoothly, and that entry and exodus can happen in the smoothest way possible. Megaphone also provided 😉
