Today we have an offer of a lifetime for you! It’s not often that a spot comes up in the Department Of Propaganda (DOP), but when it does, you’d better hop to it because you’re literally being given the opportunity to join the BEST department in all of Kiwiburn. Yes, this is no joke, you can be a part of the best department in all of Kiwiburn (which was made official at RainbowBurn 2026)!
Given we’re so awesome, we’ve created a couple of new roles to expand our department and have one existing role that’s just opened up. So if you’d like to be one of the lucky few to get to join us, read up on the roles below and get to applying – we can’t wait to have you join us!
(Note – for those who don’t know, the DOP is also known as the Comms Team.)
– Communications Facilitator 2iC
This Communications Facilitator 2iCs role is to support the Communications Facilitator and the Comms team to ensure they have all they need to communicate with the Kiwiburn Community. It involves helping out with managing the various social media accounts, design needs, website, community liaison, media and photography.
Really though it just requires you to be an awesome human being who’s ready and keen to jump in and help out wherever possible! The DOP has plans to continue our world (or maybe just Kiwiburn) domination this year and beyond with plenty of fun along the way. So now is the perfect time to hop into this role if you’re keen to get amongst and feel you are keen to be a great First Mate!
You can read more about the role here, and once you’re ready to apply, head over here!
– Photography Admin Lead
Next up is a brand new role, the Photography Administration Lead. This role will require you to manage our lovely official on-site photographers. It does not require you to have photography experience or be a photographer! No this role is more about wrangling humans/herding cats/managing people. You’ll be responsible for recruiting them, as they generally change each year, but don’t worry, the process is easy thanks to our wonderful new volunteer system!
The admin side of this role is simple: ensure that the photographers are supported, briefed and organised to make their roles easy. Post event you’ll be communicating with the wonderful photographers so they can submit their lovely photos in a timely manner. Then finally you’ll organise, sort and maintain the Kiwiburn photo drive to make it easy for our team to find and use images in our comms.
So if you’re a fan of managing people and not afraid of some admin, this role is for you! You can read more about the role here, and once you’re ready to apply, head over here!
– Internal Comms Lead
The second new role is all about handling internal comms for our full year volunteer teams. It involves supporting the Communications Facilitator, 2iC and team leads in liaising, updating and organising internal happenings in Kiwiburn’s volunteer Slack server. You’ll be helping to ensure everyone knows what’s going on, monitoring main channels for key announcements and also announcing new and outgoing volunteers.
Additionally, you’ll be responsible for creating a monthly comms round-up which details things like what’s going on this month/last month, any ‘all teams’ actions coming up, slack threads that may have been missed, and maybe even fun stories that come from the volunteer community.
If this role sounds like something you’d enjoy, go and read more about the role here, and once you’re ready to apply, head over here!
