In the true spirit of Leave No Trace, we’re taking Kiwiburn to new eco-friendly heights! We heard your call for a solution to food scraps, and this year, we proudly introduce worm farm composting at Kiwiburn!
Why worms, you ask? Well, these little heroes are masters at turning food waste into fertile gold. But like any superheroes, they can’t do it alone. That’s where we come in, folks! Here’s a simple traffic light guide to help our wriggly friends thrive:
🟢 Green Light: Go wild! Feel free to toss in vegan foods, vegetarian delights, smaller pieces, dairy-free goodies, and even tea bags. Let the worms work their magic on this limitless menu!
🟠Orange Light: Moderation is key here. While citrusy treats, acidic foods, coffee grind (it’s slightly acidic too), and eggshells are welcome in the mix, let’s not overwhelm our slimy pals.
🔴 Red Light: Hold your horses on these items. Meat, bread, oils (except for slight residue), surfactants like soap, bones, big chunks of goodness (sorry!), and dairy products unfortunately don’t make the cut.
Campers, please bring a trusty bucket or container with a secure lid to Kiwiburn. This stellar receptacle will be your collection buddy for suitable food scraps throughout the event.
We’re planning collections for Friday and Sunday – the exact location will be announced soon but rest assured, it’ll be near a composting toilet. Our worm-loving crew will swing by around 4pm to pick up your precious buckets of organic goodness.
