In a dramatic turn of events, a last minute upset at this years’ 83rd Annual ‘Best Onsite Volunteer Team’ awards ceremony has rocked the Kiwiburn community to its core.
As you may know, every year the awards ceremony crowns one of the Kiwiburn onsite volunteer teams as ‘the best’, based on whichever team receives the highest number of votes from the community.
This year the Greeters team looked set to continue their long running streak of wins, having won the last 7 awards in a row. However, a last minute recount of the votes meant that Sanitation came out ahead and won the highly coveted award.
When asked how it felt to take out the victory this year, the Sanitation team answered “We’re stoked to win this years’ award, we deal with more shit than any other team, so we feel we really deserve it”.
However, shocking allegations came to light after the event, with members of the Greeters team accusing the Sanitation team of bribing community members. One such accusation stated that the Sanitation crew promised to supply 2-Ply toilet paper (at Kiwiburn 2025), instead of the usual 1-ply, to anyone who voted for them in this years’ awards. The EFP team approached the Sanitation crew for comment on these allegations and the team responded “We wiped out the Greeters team fair and square. And anyway, they need to get their facts straight, we actually offered 3-ply to our voters, not 2-ply”.
Other award winners of the night included Lumos, who took out the ‘Best Lumos on the Paddock’ award and the HBFA crew who won the ‘Best Theme Camp’ award for their delivery of ‘The HBFA Pitstop’ in 2024.
Congratulations to all the winners, we look forward to seeing who wins at next years’ event!
