Every year Burning Man Arts issues a small number of grants for the purpose of partially funding artworks for installation on the open Playa at Burning Man. The Giant Weta (pictured), The Tinkle Drum, and Coney McConeface – large Art installations led by Aotearoa New Zealand teams – were recipients of Honoraria Grants.
If you’re interested in creating an art piece for 2026, The Burning Man Project is offering three virtual sessions (via Zoom) with their Art Department team and you are invited to ask them anything. This is specifically for artists who are interested in submitting a Letter of Intent to fund an artwork on the open playa in Black Rock City for 2026.
There are three sessions:
- Wednesday, 8 October, 2025, 6:00-7:30 AM NZT
- Tuesday, 21 October, 8:00-9:30 AM NZT
- Tuesday, 3 November, 12:00 – 1:30 PM NZT
