Lost Property at Kiwiburn 2026!

What the heck is going on with lost property at the Burn?

For the past few years, we’ve been blessed with the presence of the Lost Probably Pirates. Unfortunately, this year they’re on an extended leave of absence getting lost on the seven seas (ironic, huh?) and they won’t be at this year’s Burn. So we’re introducing a new approach to lost property: Radical Responsibility!

We’ve got a handy-dandy flowchart for you to follow if you find a piece of lost property:

a flow chart of what to do with lost propety

But it boils down to this: if it’s a large non-valuable item like clothing, hats, non-prescription glasses, cups, or drink bottles found in a Theme Camp, the Theme Camp must take responsibility for returning it. If it’s found in a public place that isn’t near a Theme Camp and nobody’s around, put it somewhere close by where it will be seen easily by anyone looking for it. And if it’s a small or valuable item like a wallet, keys, ID, jewellery, watch, camera, phone, fire toy, burn memorabilia, etc., then take it to the Depot. And if it’s MOOP, e.g. a used disposable vape, then put it into your own MOOP bag. Simple, right? Just don’t dump any unclaimed items in front of the Depot at the end of the Burn. We don’t want your MOOP.
