Welcome!
This is an Auckland based circus, flow art and fire performance jam session that will take place every Monday π
The Flow & Jam mission is to facilitate a space where you can come and do your thing. Express, teach, share, be inspired or just hang-out. Everyone involved will be co-creating a wonderful environment all whilst helping build the Burner community and the burner space.
We will gather a plethora of fun things to juggle and spin, bring your own and more if you do not mind sharing π
There will be music to groove to, instruments to play, friendly people and passionate circus artists happy to give a hug or teach a thing or two!
After the indoor fun we will have a burn at the back of the space.
From these weekly meetings, we aim to develop classes for each and every form of flow so you canfurther your knowledge in your chosen discipline
What is Flow Art?
The term “flow arts” encompasses the emerging movement-based art forms that integrate dance andcreative exploration of movement with skill-based prop manipulation. The Flow Arts draw from amultitude of ancient and modern movement disciplines from Maori poi spinning to modern firedancing, from martial arts and taichi to circus arts and hula hooping.
The Flow Arts are at once a sport and a leisure activity, a hobby and an obsession – a new way todance, explore and interact with the physical world, a movement meditation practice, a fun andCreative outlet, and a serious technical pursuit of mastery. For many of its practitioners, it is a way to
achieve the mind-state known as βflowβ, a state of optimal experience, also known as “the zone” or
getting in a groove.
