There is something about this Burn, we can just feel it: We have just counted our Art Grant applications and they total an unbelievable 92!
That’s 58 small, 31 large, and 3 innovation applications – we just could not believe our eyes as the applications rolled in like a tidal wave this weekend, with 41 coming in on Sunday alone. Way to polish those submissions until the last possible moment!
For comparison, last year (which was a pretty fine year for art!) we had 43 applications.
This is excellent news, but also a huge challenge for KAC to select just a fraction of these submissions for funding. There is a light at the end of the time tunnel:
Kiwiburn is increasing the total amount to be granted from $16,000 last year to $20,000 this year.
This is an excellent result and we are loving the increased respect and support for art and artists. Good luck to all of you who applied, and perhaps it’s worth saying: some projects may not be accepted this year because of the increased competition. However those projects are still worth making, so don’t be daunted, think about fundraising options and find a way to Build That Thing.
