If you’ve never been to a Burn before, Kiwiburn can seem like a mysterious cult-like event. And you’d be right to think that, as Kiwiburn is potentially, possibly, probably not a cult… maybe. But regardless of Kiwiburns cult status, it can all be a bit mysterious until you’ve been yourself.
There are many things that may leave you scratching your head when Kiwiburn is the topic of conversation. One of those things has quite possibly been ‘a big burn’, an effigy’ or possibly even ‘art that gets burnt’. It’s also quite possible that you’ve been left wondering why anyone would burn art that they’ve spent hours on. Well, luckily we’re here to spill the beans on all of those unanswered questions for you..
Our wonderful resident Arts Facilitator, Cherie, has written a great piece on what ‘Burnable Art’ is and how it came to be. It’ll give you a much better idea of what to expect, come January.
You can head over here to read it. Then get ready for a pop quiz on entry to the Paddock (just kidding… or are we?).
