Kiwibog 2023

Feb 6, 2023

Do y’all remember the pre-Burn heads up about bringing your gummies?!

While we expected to be dancing in the rain this year (turned out, we got 55mm on Friday alone), none of us could’ve predicted just how much mud we would get. It certainly made for a unique and unforgettable Burn, and it was freakin’ awesome to still see so many smiling faces despite the bogs that consumed much of the Paddock.

You likely would have noticed a bunch of mulch scattered across the roads and path. Kiwiburn seemingly bought all the mulch in the lower North Island; in the end, 380 cubic metres of the stuff where trucked to site, and at a significant cost (~$14,500)! That’s enough to fill 716 average paddle pools, almost 12 20ft containers or roughly 126 portaloos. Thanks to that glorious mulch, we were able to get ourselves safely around (and off) the Paddock. Thanks to the amazing volunteers who spread the mulch – it was mind-bogging! Now it’ll continue to do its organic magic to the land and soil for months to comel, so #winning.
