Firstly, what does the Arts and Events Registrations role involve?
I’m one of many in a team that facilitates Arts and Events coming to the paddock. Prior to the event kicking off I’ll be collecting and distributing all sorts of data to ensure lots of magical, wonderful offerings can be realised for 2021! The info I gather helps with things like placement, Health & Safety, and creating the Kiwiburn event guide.
How do you spend your time when you are not doing things related to Kiwiburn?
Burn life seems to filter through all my time to a certain degree….The other versions of me practice and perform aerial acrobatics and I’ve just started learning some tech fan. I have an interior design company that helps people through the process of building new homes and renovations. This past week I hiked The Old Ghost Road, 85km in 5 days! And I finally started to read Frank Herbert’s Dune which has been on my list for aaages.
Being involved with Kiwiburn can take a lot of energy. How do you re-energise?
Lately I’ve found spending time with my nephew Elijah a super relaxing activity. He had his first birthday at Kiwiburn 2020 but won’t be there this year as he’ll have a new brother or sister to look after
Do you have a favourite burn outfit?
I suppose I have some special items rather than whole outfits….a really worn out pair of boots I’m not willing to give up on. They’ve burned on 3 different continents with me now multiple times, the zips are sticky and there’s areas the wet gets in but they’re still good! Also a utility belt I’ve managed not to lose for over a decade….
What skills have you learned by being involved with Kiwiburn?
I’m really enjoying learning how to create collaboratively. Being part of setting up a Themecamp with lots of amazing humans with brilliant ideas has really taught me lots about this.
What has been your favourite moment at a Burn?
Oh wow, the best moments are all about the people I’m with. The moments I’ve shared with dear friends, lovers, siblings, my parents, strangers and alone by myself….
I do really love seeing all the beautiful glowy faces watching the effigy burn…..working perimeter at Seed a few years back was great for that.
What are you most excited about for Kiwiburn 2021?
A good dose of snark and lots of mischief!
