What’s the buzz around a planting bee? Our Infrastructure Facilitator, Floyd, has been facilitating some (plant) infrastructure on our beloved Paddock! In his own words…
“During August MPW and some other community members gathered at the Kiwiburn site to plant trees. We used this as an opportunity to connect with the greater Hunterville community and invited local council members and Hunterville primary school. The school bought a whole classroom down for the first morning and planted an amazing 600 trees alongside the Rangitikei Mayor Andy Watson.
We planted all native pioneer trees. 700 Manuka, 200 Kanuka, 100 Coprosmas robusta (karamu), 600 other assorted pioneers including kowhai, pittosporums and Karo… and about 100 toetoe.
Of course it rained on us but only briefly.”

It’s so amazing to see the local community interacting with our KB whānau to foster positive relationships. Plus, teaching young humans about the value of planting trees and caring for the land in their own backyard! This just gives us all the warm fuzzies.
Here are some pics from the day!
