A big shout-out to everyone who shared their thoughts on our exciting new partnership with DoBros. Most of you are stoked about this new alliance and are thirsty for Paddock DoBro merriment. A few of you are feeling a bit hesitant, and that’s okay! Change is never without a little bit of apprehension.
One theme we noticed in your feedback was concern about how this partnership might impact our commitment to the 10 Principles. As usual, $exCom responded by asking us to come up with a response on their behalf. So we’ll be honest with you, we’re all about transparency here at the Department of Propaganda #wouldwelietoyou #paddockpropaganda
While not everyone will have access to Double-Burn: an ember of Kiwiburn 2025 passes, or the Much-Faster-Than-Express DOUBLE Express Lane (though we hear Gate Crew are fond of bribes in the form of DoBros), we can assure you that there will be enough toasty cans of DoBros on the Paddock to go around. Check us out, hitting Gifting and Radical Inclusion in one shot!
There was obviously also some buzz about how this partnership might clash with the Principle of Decommodification. The Paddock won’t be plastered with unsightly logos and merch #trustus – you’ll only see DoBros in the hands of those feral enough to drink it. Decommodification isn’t just about not buying stuff – it also means resisting the substitution of consumption for participatory experience, so we want to encourage you to participate in a one-of-a-kind experience that we’ll be putting together with our new partner: a Paddock-wide DoBro treasure hunt. We won’t give you any clues to the whereabouts or whatsits of the treasure though (Radical Self-Reliance, anyone?). The first 42 people to find a treasure will be rewarded with the answer to life, the universe, and everything.
We know some may still have reservations about this collaboration and if you do have any questions or comments, we’d love to hear them. To share your thoughts just crack a DoBro and whisper your message into the can then run in a circle a few times so it’ll be directed to the right people.
We’re optimistic this will pave the way for a bigger and better Burn in 2025 and beyond. Change can be a little intimidating, like being naked in front of a bunch of strangers, but sometimes you just have to run with it.
