What’s the Paddock looking like this year?

Jan 21, 2025

Since the EFP has an early presence on the Paddock this year, we can bring you the most up to date info on what our beloved Paddock looks like!

We can tell you that the road down to the Paddock is dry and dusty, very dusty! So drive sloooowly to avoid showering others, and your own car, with dust and dirt. Remember the speed limit on the road down to the Paddock is 10 km/h. So please stick to that speed.

If this will be your first time on the Paddock, after you get through gate and your ticket is scanned, you’ll go through Greeters! What/who are greeters? Greeters are the wonderful humans who welcome you home! Also, greeters is where you’ll get your event guide, sticker and yellow photography wristbands. And if that’s not exciting enough, this year we have something new: Theme camp takeovers! A small number of Theme Camps will be creating themed versions of greeting, so check em out and see what they have in store for you! We do have one ‘boring’ lane for those who do not wish to be greeted, but we highly encourage you to pay them a visit.

When you’ve made it down to the actual Paddocks, the speed limit drops to 5 km/h. You may also hear a fair amount of buzz on the Paddocks this year, and no it’s not fellow burners talking about how rad your outfit is, it’s actually bees. Lots and lots of bees. So be on the lookout and avoid tangling with them, unless you’re keen on sporting a few beestings for the duration of the Burn!

If you’re planning on camping in the lower Paddock, please be aware that the only way to drive down there is to  head down ‘Medical Miss Adventure’ then turn right across from the Medic tent onto ‘Quisby Way’. All other roads, aka ‘Muddy Boot Boulevard’, ‘Dive Drive’ and ‘Repurpose Park’ are not able to be driven on this year by most vehicles, so don’t even try.

If you missed it last week: Parking will look a little different this year so please follow directions from the amazing Parking Team once you’ve been Greeted.

Now onto the weather, we could possibly have sun, rain, wind, snow, tornados, flying pigs, hail and even an ice age. As always, it’s sure to change day by day, so come prepared for any and all conditions. Do note that the weather report from Hunterville is not the weather we usually get on the Paddock, so don’t take that as gospel!
