Tell us a little about yourself:
Firstly, what does the Theme Camp Coordinator role involve?
It’s only my first couple weeks but – without reading from the job description – I want to make the Theme Camps feel supported and encourage them to get PUMPED while making sure they are informed and compliant. There is also lots of information gathering which needs to be fed to the rest of the KB team (Town Planning, Tickets, Safety etc) – luckily I love spreadsheets!
How do you spend your time when you are not doing things related to Kiwiburn?
I read a lot – I mostly read sci-fi. Midway through R Jordan’s Wheel of Time series, just finished Cixin Liu’s Three-body Problem trilogy, and about to embark on Iain M Banks’ Culture series.
I also dabble (by no means an expert) in archery and axe throwing. Oh, and I’m also a car fan (read: I’m a thinly veiled bogan) – I just sold my 1984 Ford Bronco with 35′ tyres and 6′ lift and probably spend about 20% of my online time trawling through TradeMe and Craigslist looking for my next steael baby….they’re second hand with minimal plastic and most parts can be rebuilt or recycled; also you don’t drive them as much – I have carbon footprint research I can cite.
Being involved with Kiwiburn can take a lot of energy. How do you re-energise?
Staring into the abyss, contemplating my existence. Also reading.
Do you have a favourite burn outfit?
Something with pockets – always forget this key criteria. Always regret it.
What skills have you learned by being involved with Kiwiburn?
G Suite.
What has been your favourite moment at a Burn?
This will be my first – but I already know and it will depend on what state I’m in when you ask me which will in order of wantedness be:
1) The opportunity to have a blast with new and existing friends in this beautiful piece of Aotearoa.
2) Figuring out how to rally the proletariat into demanding we be released from wage slavery and move towards a post-capitalist society.
3) Boobies. Boobies are the best bit.
What are you most excited about for Kiwiburn 2021?
Challenging myself to live by the Burn values. Starting with getting rid of the glitter on my face in the attached pic.
