Got Time, Skills, or Questionable Life Choices?

Kiwiburn runs on volunteers.

Not in a vague, inspirational, disney movie kind of way. Literally. The event only happens because hundreds of awesome people (including the EFP team) spend their time building things, fixing things, organising things, answering questions, solving problems, and occasionally wondering why they agreed to any of this.

As we head towards KB27, teams are spread a little thin, we’re looking for more people to get involved. Whether you’re good with spreadsheets, power tools, radios, people, logistics, art, admin, or just turning up when you said you would (arguably the most important quality), there’s probably a place for you.

Volunteering is also one of the best ways to meet people, learn how the event actually works, and become part of the community that makes the whole strange enterprise possible.

The easiest way to guarantee there’s a Kiwiburn next year is the same way there’s a Kiwiburn this year: people putting their hands up and helping out.

Plus, and this, much like the national flag of Switzerland, is a big ol’ plus, many of these roles come with a juicy juicy ticket, nom nom. As we gradually transition to a volunteer-for-entry system, getting in and scooping up a role you love sooner rather than later seems a prudent stratagem, dontchathink?

Have a look at the open roles. Find something that sounds fun, or at least sounds like the kind of story you’ll laugh about later. Join the amazing hodge-podge of collaborative, hardworking soft toys that is Kiwiburn. See you there!
