Last week, we shared the unsurprising fact that our transport emissions to and from Kiwiburn are our biggest contributor to our carbon footprint, producing a whopping 149.5 tonnes of CO2.
There are many factors that determine the size of your individual footprint – the mode of transport you take, who you travel with, how much stuff you take – and one of the biggest factors is whether or not you carpool.
Having a travel buddy gives you so many benefits – you’ve got someone to enthusiastically sing off-key duets to 90’s pop songs with; someone to share the driving; someone to fetch you drinks and snacks so you can keep your eyes on the road; someone to split the ridiculous fuel costs with; PLUS carpooling significantly drops your emissions.
We could list a whole bunch of numbers and stats, but instead, we’ve got a cool infographic for you. Check it out, and start making plans to reduce the amount of stuff you stuff into your vehicle, so you can stuff another body and all their stuff into your vehicle instead!
Next week we’ll have some more practical ideas on how you can help reduce your carbon impact to/from Kiwiburn, and look out for more articles to help keep the green goodness going year round. Oooooh yeah.
