Goodbye to Anne – Art and Theme Camps Coordinator

Sep 2, 2019

Anne is stepping down as Art and Theme Camps Coordinator

Yup, it’s true.

I have been the Art and Theme Camp Coordinator (A&TC) for Kiwiburn since 2012 so I feel qualified to say that this is absolutely the best volunteer job at Kiwiburn. As A&TC, I have been the first person to find out what crazy art and Theme Camps are going to pop up on the Paddock and first to see what awesome events are going to be held, plus I get to meet all the beautiful people who make this stuff happen. Pretty cool.

And if that is not benefit enough, the work is all done pre-event, so when Kiwiburn starts, I am free of my responsibilities – I can play and be silly, or be an introvert in my tent, as the mood takes me (mostly introvert or swim).

Having resigned the role, I have been doing some reminiscing about the last eight years of Kiwiburn and I don’t seem to have quite the right words to express myself – I will just say that it’s been Frikkin’ Awesome. I get to start stories with things like “One time, when I was a Bee for five days….”

It has been an honour to be a part of something as special as the Kiwiburn Volunteer Crew. It is a joy to be part of this loving and creative community, and it has been a blessing to make so many friends.

Parting words? Hmmm, I have three things to say;

  1. If you are thinking about going to Kiwiburn and haven’t done so yet – do it.
  2. If you go to Kiwiburn and haven’t yet signed up for a volunteer role – do it now (volunteering deepens the experience in so many beautiful ways).
  3. So long, and thanks for all the fish.

Love and squishy hugs,

Anne
