The Giant Weta, by Cliff Baise

In 2016, a group of plucky Kiwis thought it would be fun to bring some locally inspired art to the Playa at Black Rock City in Nevada, USA. So they designed and built a Giant Weta, because why not? What better way to introduce international Burners to the culture and fauna of New Zealand?

It is important to note that they achieved this amazing feat with the help of a Burning Man Honoraria art grant, without which this would never have been fiscally possible.

Read more about what it takes to bring some art to the USA from other countries, and how you could apply for help via the Burning Man Honoraria Program.
