Community Facilitator Needed

Jul 26, 2021

About a month ago, we announced that Kiwiburn’s Executive Committee (ExCom) are establishing a Community Department. This department will consist of various sub-committees: Diversity & Inclusion; Accessibility; Consent; Community Liaison; and Regional Burners; among others. Watching over them all will be the new Community Facilitator – but we still haven’t found the right Burner to fill this role. Maybe that person is you!

As Community Facilitator, you will select and manage all the leads under your watch. You will also be present on ExCom. This is a year-round role of 2 to 8 hours per week, increasing to 5 to 10 hours per week from September to January, plus attendance at one to two Summits per year. It is anticipated that there will be little on-site responsibility with this role.

To take on this role, you will need a strong understanding of the ten principles as well as the principle of consent, and have a passion for supporting marginalised communities and creating safe, collaborative spaces. You must also have strong leadership, communication, and negotiation skills, and excel at the management of projects and time itself. You should also be comfortable learning and using software, and be able to adapt and make change to the organisation surrounding you. It would be great if you have experience in developing diversity and inclusion practices, a history of managing teams, and ideally already have some existing working relationship with other Kiwiburn leads.

If you believe you are the one for this important role, check out the Job Description here and apply by filling in Kiwiburn’s online volunteering form
