Happy New Year from The Chair

Dec 31, 2019

On behalf of the ExCom I wish all of the Burner community a Happy New Year.

Here we are at the start of a new decade. Not any old decade, instead, it is the one and only “Eclectic Decade” which we will be celebrating as Kiwiburn returns to the Paddock in Hunterville on 22 January 2020 after a gap year. Our goal for the new decade is to see Kiwiburn develop to become even more spectacular, amazing, inspirational, encouraging, and inclusive than ever before. Targeting not only the annual Kiwiburn event itself, though also the establishment of other events and activities throughout the year – whether organised in our own right or through collaboration with other Burner or like-minded groups.

Organising the Kiwiburn event is a massive undertaking, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the members of the organising team that have worked tirelessly over the last two years to get Kiwiburn back to the Paddock. It started with applying for, and successfully gaining ,a 10 year resource consent, followed by 18 months of all the extensive and detailed planning that is necessary nowadays to enable an event like this to take place. So a big thank you to all the ExCom members (past and present), and the various Team Leads and their crews – all of who voluntarily contribute their time, effort, and resources to make Kiwiburn happen.

Over the next few days and weeks I am sure many of you will be attending numerous and varied events and festivals over the New Year period, so have fun, make friends and above all, be safe. And remember that these other events are just the warm up act for the main event!

See you on the Paddock in 2020!
