The Secure Ticket Exchange Program (STEP) for Kiwiburn opens at 10am, Saturday 24 October. If you missed out on the allocated or general ticket sales, the only way to get a ticket to Kiwiburn is either
i) find a friend willing to transfer theirs to you, or
ii) register for STEP, the authorised reselling site for Kiwiburn tickets.
STEP operates on a first-come, first-served basis, so the first person who registers after it goes live at 10am on 24 October will be first in the queue to receive any tickets re-sold via the program.
Once you receive a ticket offer, you will have 48 hours to complete your purchase before it is offered to the next punter in the queue, so make sure you regularly check your email inbox (and spam folder!) once you’ve registered. If you don’t respond to a ticket offer, not only will you lose that ticket – you’ll also give up your spot in the queue. In previous years, anyone who wanted to go to Kiwiburn has usually been able to get a ticket if they’re willing to wait in STEP, with increasing numbers of tickets becoming available in the last two weeks before the event.
If you’re lucky enough to find someone who’s willing to transfer their ticket to you outside of the STEP queue, make sure you only pay face value for it, and get them to use the Ticket Transfer features in Quicket. Just remember that tickets can only be transferred once – so if you need to re-sell it, it will have to go back to the STEP queue. Also note that in the event of a COVID cancellation, refunds will be sent to the original Ticket Purchaser (or most recent STEP Purchaser) – so you’d need to arrange your refund with the human you bought it off.
We will release the link for STEP closer to the time – watch out for it and get there early! (edit, link now released)

Correction: an earlier version of this article incorrectly stated that using Quicket’s Ticket Transfer system was sufficient for us to refund the new ticket holder in the event of a COVID cancellation. We can only refund tickets to the original Ticket Purchaser, or the most recent Ticket Purchaser if resold through STEP. Tickets that have been Transferred will be refunded to the original Ticket Purchaser in the event of a COVID cancellation, and the new Ticket Holder must liaise with them.
