Kia ora everyone,
As promised, Kiwiburn is opening up a Discord server. This will be the new home for community discussion.
Why did we choose Discord?
1. Discord was the clear winner of the poll we put out to the community last year.
2. The platform allows us to have multiple channels for separate topics, meaning you’re far less likely to miss things and making it easier to discuss things with other members of the community.
3. It allows you to choose exactly what you get notified about, especially with how we’ve set it up.
4. It’s not controlled by an algorithm, meaning your messages/comments won’t be subject to an algorithm’s control or sometimes automatically filtered out by AI like they are on Facebook.
We encourage you to use the server for community discussion, we hope that by offering an alternative to Facebook, more of the community will be happy to use it. While it may be set up differently, we believe it’s a superior platform for our community’s needs, and we think you’ll find it to be really useful.
With that out of the way, we’re happy to announce that The Kiwiburn Community Discord Server is now ready and open to all!

Note – If you don’t currently have a Discord account, you’ll need to create one first. You can do so by creating an account here: https://discord.com/login. If you’re using your phone, you’ll need to download the Discord app from your phone’s app store and then create an account on the app.
A few important notes:
1. Once you have joined the server, please follow the instructions in the ‘Get Started’ channel to get access to the rest of the channels. You won’t be able to see most channels until you agree to the rules.
- The current Theme Camps Discord server will be retired, and merged with the new one. Members will need to join the new one, but you’ll find that the Theme Camp channels mirror the ones in the previous server.
- The server will evolve over time, channels will be added or removed as we figure out what is or what isn’t needed.
