In our behind-the-scenes series on who makes Kiwiburn happen, we have the pleasure to introduce you to Geveta, who does/runs/organises/helps with ExCom at Kiwiburn.
A dedicated attendee of Kiwiburn since 2012, Geveta joined Kiwiburn’s ExCom in 2017 as Secretary following her participation in The Giant Weta project. The collaborative art project by Auckland Burners featured at Burning Man 2016 then at Kiwiburn in 2017, and inspired Geveta to give back to the creative Burner community she has met through Kiwiburn.
Here’s a little more about Geveta and what she gets up to:
Firstly, what does the Secretary role involve?
Secretary is an ExCom position, an officer role and information keeper for Kiwiburn Incorporated. I handle data retention and information access for all things Kiwiburn, and it’s my job to help volunteers find all the things they need! I take minutes for ExCom meetings, Summits and the AGM (Annual General Meeting), and ensure we complete our requirements for the Incorporated Societies Register, Burning Man Regional event registration, and compile and edit the Kiwiburn Afterburn report.
How do you spend your time when you are not doing things related to Kiwiburn?
Interests include collecting vinyl, hoop dancing, and cheese boards. Movie binges in warmth are always a comfort.
Being involved with Kiwiburn can take a lot of energy. How do you re-energise?
Tea, pub sessions and luscious meals, the occasional two day party.
Do you have a favourite burn outfit?
Sunblock.
What skills have you learned by being involved with Kiwiburn?
EVERYTHING GSUITE and ASANA (project management software). I’m also now savvy with Terms and Conditions, Privacy policy, as well as requirements of the New Zealand Incorporated Societies Register.
What has been your favourite moment at a Burn?
Pouring pints and talking smack at The Rusty Joint. Also scaling the tower structures at 2016 Burning Man ‘Scotchfest’.
What are you most excited about for Kiwiburn 2020?
New Theme Camps absolutely BRINGING it!
